So today I thought I'd do something different. For one of the shows I'm watching this season, I decided to do episode reviews as I watch it weekly. The show that I chose is Hai to Gensou no Grimgar/Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash. This is a review of its second episode.
In this episode, we see yet another day in the lives of our six heroes. And yes, they go out to kill another goblin in order to make money. What this episode does, however, is focus on the very brutal nature of the subject \"survival of the fittest\".
But what this episode also does is look into the world of Grimgar and just show it's pure beauty. The still images of the setting still looks gorgeous and the interactions between the main cast still show a hint of tension, but overall fun. There was also some character development for, notably, the character of Ranta.
Finally, at the end of the day, Grimgar returns to its emphasis on stunning music. There was an insert song in this episode that probably played for a good three or four minutes, and with none of the characters talking. But it honestly felt like thirty seconds. I was whisked away by this song - and I don't even know what the translated lyrics are.
Overall, Hai to Gensou no Grimgar's second episode continues to impress me. It relaxes, touches on some dark themes, hints at certain things in the storyline, but then brings it all around back with some more relaxing happy times. Seriously, don't skip on Grimgar this season - it's not your usual light novel stuff.
