Erica Moore (born March 25, 1988, in Seymour, Indiana) is an American middle-distance runner. She attended and graduated from Sullivan High School in Sullivan, Indiana, where her father was the boys basketball coach. She was a versatile athlete, establishing school records in at least six events in track and playing basketball.
She matriculated to Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, where she had an outstanding career in track, competing primarily in the pentathlon and heptathlon and middle distance events, including the 400 meter-run, 800-meter run and 400-meter hurdles. As a senior in 2010 she was an All-America in the 800-meter run indoors and the 400-meter hurdles outdoors.
Dr. Moore earned a BSN from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University, an MSN (nurse anesthesia) from the University of Alabama/Birmingham, and a DNP from Chatham University. Dr. Moore has maintained an active clinical practice, specializing in shock trauma and neurovascular anesthesia. She is an active member and advocate for the Diversity Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program, active member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesia (AANA)- Faculty Stabilization Task Force and Georgia Association of Nurse Anesthesia (GANA), where she served on the public relations committee and as a current board of director. Additionally, Dr. Moore is a mentor for the Fellowship in Nursing Development (FIND) program and LAtinX in Nursing Development (LAND) program.
Erica Moore, Ph.D., is Boriken TaĆno of iukaieke Guainia and a member of the United Confederation of Taino People. She currently serves as the executive director of Native Student Success at American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC). Previously, Moore was the director of American Indian Student Center at South Dakota State University (SDSU). She served as a content expert for an ongoing educational development series and fostered a culturally responsive, supportive campus environment for American Indian students.
Before working at both AIHEC and SDSU, she worked as chief academic officer of Lower Brule Tribal College. Moore has also worked in education for over 10 years, including teaching history and political courses. Her research agenda focused on Native American student success. 59ce067264
