Both the American War of Independence and the War of 1812 have tended to dominate perceptions of the issues reflected in the Letters of the Republic, especially in contemporary commentaries that have sought to explain and justify these events in terms of American nationalism or internationally-oriented reforms of many kinds. Such commentaries have also sought to explain the United States' role in the wars of Europe, or its weaknesses as an isolationist power. The founding fathers were older, and their viewpoint more in accord with 19th-century European statesmen than with the Western political philosophers of the later 18th century who influenced the American Revolutionary generation.
James Madison - of whom it is often said that he was the Secretary of State and James Madison was the Chief of State - is perhaps the most important misrepresentation of American history. It's the fact that it's always someone going to one of his statesmen and sometimes he's there with Jefferson and somebody else - and other times they're the only two in the room. Certainly he was in contact with Jefferson a great deal. They both wrote their letters to each other.
From 1804 to 1815, Madison served as the 4th president of the United States. He was the main author of the Constitution, principal author of the Bill of Rights, a principal author of the most important amendments to the Constitution, and was also a principal player in domestic and foreign affairs. In these, some, though not all, of his actions were controversial.
The Equestrian Statue of General Washington was an equestrian statue of George Washington by Swiss sculptor Pierre-Édouard Lantier. Fittingly, it stands on a plinth in the Capitol grounds and is visible to all who enter the Capitol through the east front of the building.
The statue stands some 70 feet (21.3 m) high on a square bronze base approximately 60 feet (18.3 m) on each side and 3.5 feet (1.03 m) thick. It is considered the most successful work of its type produced in America, and symbolizes the dominance of the United States over Europe. d2c66b5586
