3. I was not able to change odometer setting, button and feature, is grayed out. Sorry to metion that my Beetles 2002 was not included in the vagtacho 3.0 list. I may try to do some more research on this but I'm assuming, not all features work all every vag dash out there.
I installed VC-S on Friday, which worked fine, but the cable and the drivers did not work in Windows 8. I did some research online, which was not very helpful; so I called FTDI; the tech support guy told me to download the drivers from their website; I did that and still had no luck. I tried several driver versions; the latest didn't work on 8. So, I tried an older version 1.03.06, which worked; however, it had a bug where the device would not dissable. I kept getting errors (doesn't seem to want to come off) and it was not easy to get the cable working. After a few hours of testing; I finally figured out how to get it to work (I hope). Now, I can get it to work with Windows 8, so if you don't get it working on your Windows 7; try and download the newer driver, I found a site that can get it for you. a: download drivers from FTDI website: b: when you plug the cable into your computer, it should turn off windows defender. When you turn it on, it will remove vagtacho as a virus.c: make sure, the cable is plugged in and the usb ports are working (should be a green light). If it is not blinking green, your computer doesn't recognize the cable. I finally got a cable that flashed green.d: WF is great to remove vagtacho. You will have to go into your C: drive and a couple of folders and files to remove vagtacho. e: Make sure the usb cable is plugged in and connected to your computer and not a USB hub. If you are using a usb hub; vagtacho will not recognize it. Now, if I could only get the odometer to work. I have no clue how to get that to work (they have a great forum, but I'm not a programmer).
Got my vag tacho 3.0 cable last weekend and it is great, I am really impressed with the utility. I did have a bit of a problem with Windows 8 (had to remove it to get the cable to work). However, I was able to get that resolved as well. 827ec27edc
