Growing Gardens, Growing Hearts
The #littleGreenWarriors initiative brings edible plant gardens to orphanages and shelters across Malaysia. We believe every child deserves access to fresh, sustainable food — and the joy of watching something grow.
Beyond providing a lasting food source, the programme teaches children how to care for a garden and understand their impact on the environment. Hands-on, messy, and full of discovery — that's how real learning happens.
The garden at Our Small Kingdom is a living classroom where greenery and community intersect. Edible plants, herbs, and vegetables grow alongside ornamental flowers, creating a space that nourishes both body and spirit. Visitors are welcome to explore the winding paths, observe the seasonal cycles of planting and harvest, and learn how small-scale gardening can yield fresh food right in an urban setting. The garden is designed to be accessible and inviting, encouraging hands-on engagement with the soil. It serves as a peaceful retreat from the busy world, where the simple act of tending to plants becomes a form of quiet wellness and connection to nature.
Through the littleGreenWarriors initiative, the garden's impact extends far beyond its own borders. This programme brings edible plant gardens to orphanages and shelters across Malaysia, giving children the chance to grow their own food and learn where it comes from. The experience is hands-on and immersive, teaching practical skills like planting seeds, caring for seedlings, and harvesting produce. Beyond the tangible yield, children gain a sense of responsibility and accomplishment as they watch their gardens flourish. The initiative fosters environmental awareness from a young age, planting seeds of stewardship that can last a lifetime.
Community lies at the heart of everything at Our Small Kingdom. The garden space regularly hosts gatherings where people come together to share cuttings, seeds, gardening tips, and stories. These exchanges strengthen bonds between neighbours and create a network of mutual support among gardeners of all experience levels. Workshops and informal meetups provide opportunities to learn about sustainable practices, composting, and growing food in limited spaces. The garden becomes a catalyst for connection, where conversations bloom alongside the plants and every visitor is welcomed into a growing circle of green-hearted individuals.
What We Do
Start Edible Gardens
We set up vegetable and herb gardens at orphanages and shelters, creating a renewable source of fresh produce for daily meals.
Sustainable Food Source
Each garden is designed to keep giving — season after season — reducing reliance on purchased food and building self-sufficiency.
Environmental Education
Kids get their hands in the soil and learn about plant life cycles, composting, water conservation, and why caring for the earth matters.
Past Projects
Little Green Warriors 2019
Our inaugural year — pilot gardens were planted at partner homes, and the first group of young gardeners discovered the magic of growing their own food.
Little Green Warriors 2020
The programme expanded to more locations, with workshops on seed-starting, soil health, and garden maintenance for children and caregivers alike.
